Councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) said last Friday (5) that he supports the candidacy of his older brother, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), in the race for the Presidency in next year’s election.
After receiving a tribute at Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo), the councilor said that he received the news that his brother was chosen by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to launch himself at Palácio do Planalto through the former president’s lawyers and reaffirmed his support for the current senator.
“I just know that whatever my father decides, we will support […]. whenever he wants, however he wants, however he wants. There’s no problem with that,” he said.
Then, when asked about one named after Flávio, Carlos said he was not worried about these parliamentarians, reaffirming that “what Bolsonaro decided has been decided.”
The councilor said he had not yet spoken to Flávio about the matter and that, when he returns to Brasília, he will be able to “find out what is happening”.
Regarding the relationship with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) — one of the main names that had been discussed behind the scenes regarding Bolsonaro’s replacement in the dispute for Planalto — Carlos reaffirmed the certainty that the Republican “is a friend” and there is “no problem” with regards to the PL’s decision.
“I’m sure that Tarcísio is an ally of ours. He’s a friend of ours. And I think that if there is a problem, if there is, and it’s certain that there isn’t, everyone will line up for a common line”, he concluded.
