Investigation of the incident
“Today is very painful for all of us in Goa. 23 people lost their lives in a major fire in Arpore,” Sawant wrote on X.
“I visited the scene of the fire and ordered an investigation into the incident,” he said. “Those found responsible will face the strictest legal action under the law – any negligence will be severely punished,” he stressed.
Sawant told reporters at the scene of the fire that “three to four” tourists had died. Three people died of burns, the others suffocated, he added.

The state of Goa is a former Portuguese colony on the shores of the Arabian Sea, which attracts millions of tourists every year with its nightlife, sandy beaches and relaxed coastal atmosphere.
