This Sunday (7), the Brazilian team won the first women’s futsal World Cup organized by FIFA (International Football Federation). In a tough game against Portugal, in the Philippines, the team led by Wilson Sabóia knew how to impose themselves in the decisive moments and won 3-0.
Emilly, Amandinha found the net at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig, Metro Manila. And they completed a great campaign, with six wins in six matches, 32 goals scored and only four conceded, without there being any greater doubts about their superiority.
Brazil had already triumphed in all six editions of a world championship held from 2010 to 2015, with victories over Portugal in three of the finals. This time, the tournament was endorsed by the entity that governs football and was even more celebrated.
The Portuguese team, it is true, created difficulties. Betting on a counterattack strategy, there were moments of danger in quick attacks and set pieces. The green-yellow team had possession of the ball and was under pressure, stopping at some impressive saves from goalkeeper Ana Catarina.
The block was broken in the tenth minute, in a beautiful collective move. Amandinha activated Ana Luiza, who did some pivot work and rolled the ball for Emilly to shoot into the right corner. In the final stage, in the third minute, Ana Catarina rebounded Simone’s cross. Amandinha was smart with the rebound to cover the archer.
Portugal then took a risk, using the goalkeeper line to take advantage. With the goal unguarded, Débora Vanin took the opportunity to close the score, with just over two minutes left until the end of the competition.
