Danko after a discussion with the Minister of Labour: Some groups of people could be exempted from higher levies

They could be determined levy limits for pensioners, self-employed persons or people who have their regular employment, but in addition earn extra money through other work. This was stated by the head of the coalition SNS, Andrej Danko, in the Sunday talk show STVR O 5 minut 12, saying that he is discussing this topic with the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family Erik Tomáš (Hlas-SD).

“Yes, it will be approved in the spring, Minister Erik Tomáš has already set it up so that we set limits for persons who will not pay those levies, that is from July 1, so that they are not burdened with the higher levies,” said Danko.

Another topic of discussion was energy aid, in which the chairman of the opposition KDH, Milan Majerský, emphasized that it is the visible absence of a law on energy poverty, which would establish targeted assistance for the poorest people dependent on assistance with expensive energies. He criticized the energy assistance approved by the government for 90% of the people for almost 400 million euros, which, according to him, is not addressed.

Danko has a problem with the law that even those with high salaries will receive energy assistance. He clarified that the boundaries of who will receive it should have been clearly established and the state could use data from the Social Insurance Agency, which has data on the amount of people’s salaries. He thinks that it was possible to find out which Slovaks are and are not entitled to energy assistance. “I would look for a solution in the Social Insurance Company, which would identify not only energy poverty, but the overall poverty that exists in Slovakia,” explained Danko.

According to him, the important thing is that the state still helps people with energy prices and 90% of households will receive this support. “If something with energy inputs is not improved, the economy is not started with tax breaks, consumption is not supported and better use of European funds is not supported, then the economy cannot move,” concluded Danko. Majerský added that a lot of money could be saved on energy in public administration and ministriesif there was more consolidation in this sector, for example in the purchase of motor vehicles.
