Datafolha: 8% think Bolsonaro should support Flávio; see other scenarios

Only 8% of voters consider senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) to be the ideal name to be launched as a candidate by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the 2026 elections, according to a Datafolha survey released this Saturday, 6.

Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP), have greater sympathy among the electorate, with the preference of 22% and 20% of those interviewed, respectively.

In the survey, deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) also performed better than Flávio, his brother, with support from 9% of those interviewed to run in his father’s place.

On Friday, the 5th, the senator announced his presidential pre-candidacy with the approval of the former president. Bolsonaro is imprisoned at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasília, where he is serving a sentence of 27 years and 3 months for plotting a coup in 2022.

“It is with great responsibility that I confirm the decision of Brazil’s greatest political and moral leader, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, to give me the mission of continuing our nation project”, wrote Flávio in his profile on X.

The research was carried out before the candidacy was announced. Datafolha interviewed 2,002 people from December 2nd to 4th. The survey was carried out in 113 municipalities with people over 16 years old. The margin of error is plus or minus two points.

Other names listed in the field on the right were tested in the research. The governor of Paraná, Ratinho Jr. (PSD-PR), had the support of 8% of those interviewed. The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil-GO), with 6%, and the governor of Minas, Romeu Zema (Novo-MG), with 4%.

Second round

The research also showed that Flávio is the name listed on the right with the worst performance in a possible second round against Lula (PT). If he ran for president against the PT member, the senator would be 15 points behind him. Flávio faces 38% disapproval from the electorate.

In a possible second round, Flávio would receive 36% of the votes, while Lula would have 51%. Tarcísio would have 42% of the votes and Ratinho, 41%, against 47% for the PT member in both scenarios.
