One person died and another was injured in a collision in Canidelo, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, on Saturday night. To SIC, people who frequent the seafront avenue, in Canidelo, say that speeding in the area is recurrent and ask for measures to force drivers to reduce speed.

The driver who on Saturday night in Vila Nova de Gaia, and fled and handed himself in to the PSP this morning, a police source told Lusa.

“The driver has already handed himself in to the police,” said the source, without providing further details.

On Saturday night, at 9:45 pm, a man and a woman, both in their 60s, were run over by “a vehicle speeding, apparently”, on the waterfront of that municipality in the Porto district.

The 65-year-old man died at the scene and the woman suffered minor injuries to her leg.

The driver of the vehicle that ran over the two people fled.

The Volunteer Firefighters of Coimbrões, the Volunteer Firefighters of Valadares, the PSP and INEM were at the scene.
