Filip Turek has health problems. The meeting with Czech President Pavlo has been postponed for the time being

The planned meeting of the Czech President Petr Pavel with the candidate for the Minister of the Environment in the future government, Filip Turk, will not take place on Monday. The honorary president of Motorists excused himself from the meeting due to health reasons, the office of the head of state said on Sunday evening. The Czech media previously reported that the Turk himself has problems with his spine, writes TASR.

“On Monday, December 8, 2025, at Prague Castle, President Pavel will receive only two of the original three candidates for ministers of the future government. Filip Turek, candidate for minister of the environment, has excused himself from tomorrow’s meeting due to health reasons,” according to a statement from the presidential office on the X network.

The President will receive two candidates

Pavel will meet only Oto Klempíř, who should become the Minister of Culture, and Boris Šťastný, who should be the head of the new Ministry of Sports, Prevention and Health.

The Turk told the server iDnes.cz on Sunday that he had an old injury to his spine and that his current state of health is being assessed by doctors, and according to him, surgery is even being considered. The chairman of Motorists, Petr Macinka, specified in the TV Prima show that the Turk has problems with the plate, wrote the Novinky.cz portal.

Controversies surrounding the Turk

The Turk wanted to explain to the president all his cases that appeared in the media in connection with him in recent weeks. Pavel, who was supposed to receive him at Prague Castle as the last of the candidates for ministerial posts, is of the opinion that the Turk should not be a member of the government, but he wants to hear his explanation.

In recent weeks, Český Deník N published Turk’s former alleged posts on social networks, which contained racist, homophobic and sexist statements. Subsequently, the police began to examine the MP’s alleged statements as possible crimes of defamation of a nation, race, ethnic or other population group, incitement to hatred and approval of a crime.
