One thing first: The new regulation, which is unique in Europe, for the mandatory reimbursement of toll fees in the event of traffic jams applies not only to Italian motorists, but also to all foreign holidaymakers. If they are stuck in a traffic jam for a few hours on the way south on the Autostrada del Sole or on the Adriatic Motorway at the start of the holiday, they are also entitled to a full or partial refund of the motorway toll.
