Messi wins first MLS title with Inter Miami – 12/06/2025 – Sport

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami won their first MLS (North American football league) title this Saturday (6). The trophy was achieved in a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, whose big name is German Thomas Müller.

The score in the final, played in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was opened eight minutes into the first half, with an own goal by Brian Ocampo. The Canadian club looked to attack and achieved a draw at 15 minutes into the final stage, with Ali Ahmed.

Inter Miami reacted next. In the 26th minute, Rodrigo de Paul received the ball from Messi, with freedom, and scored. In stoppage time, at 51, it was Tadeo Allende’s turn to take advantage of another assist from the star.

It was Inter Miami’s sixth season in MLS, and the team finally fulfilled its promise of dominating North American football, an objective set with the signing of Messi in 2023.

In August, the team lost its second Leagues Cup title, a tournament played between teams from the USA and Mexico, but found its best form in the decisive moment of MLS.
