A São Paulo Civil Police arrested a man red-handed after trying to steal a luxury vehicle, last Saturday (6). The attempted robbery occurred on Avenida Juscelino Kubitschek, in Vila Olímpia, West Zone of São Paulo.
According to police information, two officers were patrolling the avenue when they saw the suspect pointing a gun at the driver of a luxury car.
An arrest warrant was issued, at which point the man pointed the gun at the team, who fired.
After the shots, the suspect fled and dropped the gun at the scene. The police tried to catch him, but were unable to do so.
The teams had support from Garra (Armed Group for the Suppression of Robbery and Assault) and carried out searches in hospitals in the region to locate the suspect. He was found at UPA Akira Tada, in Taboão da Serra.
The police officers who responded to the incident recognized the man, who admitted to having participated in the action.
The case was registered with the Department of Strategic Police Operations (DOPE).
