Best electric blanket
We have chosen the Cosi Home electric blanket as the best in the comparison, since it is the one with the greatest option of levels to adjust the heat.
A good bed can be more than enough to keep you warm in winter. However, if there is no heating – or you do not want to turn it on – it may fall short. Fortunately, the electric blankets They are the perfect solution, as they require little energy to provide heat in any space in the home. At we have tested four models to choose the best.
Which electric blankets have we chosen and how have we tested them?
To compare this comparison, all the electric blankets we have chosen had the same measurements: 200 x 150 cm. However, during our search we found a combination of features that we took into account to find the best one: the fabric material, the power and adjustable heat levels, as well as the automatic shut-off function. With these considerations in mind, we have chosen four models from the brands: Cosi Home, Beurer, Medisana and Proaller.
The tests we have carried out with these electric blankets have consisted of evaluating them with continuous use from one to eight hours. This has also allowed us to check the safety and temperature control of each model. Likewise, we have used them both on the bed and under another blanket, and we have washed all of them to confirm that there were no problems when cleaning them.
Which electric blanket was the winner?
I consider that the Cosi Home electric blanket is the best in the comparison because it allows you to choose between nine heat levels. Although it lacks an automatic shut-off system, it allows you to set an auto-off timer of up to nine hours.

How does it heat?
Available in three colors to choose the shade we like the most (mustard, gray or blue), the Cosi Home electric blanket has the same dimensions as its opponents in this comparison: 180 x 130 mm. Like the rest, when it gets dirty, you can put it in the washing machine and use a cold water program. It is made of a microfleece fabric that leaves good impressions and is very warm, even if you don’t want to turn on the built-in remote control. This fabric is characterized by its soft texture and the sensations to the touch are very pleasant. Also, the blanket seemed quite fluffy to me.
If the quality of the finishes of the electric blanket gets a very good rating, the same happens with the quality of its remote control. It has been the one I liked the most and I appreciate, in addition to the size of its screen, how its control buttons have been distributed. One of these controls is identified as “Time”: it activates the nine-hour timer with automatic shut-off that the manufacturer has included.
This blanket allows you to choose between nine heat levels. One of them has its specific control button, which is identified as “High”. Thus, it not only heats up sooner but also reaches the highest temperature it can offer. When using it, I have felt comfortable and at ease, because the heat is distributed and maintained well. It also has an anti-overheating function. It would be perfect if it included an automatic shut-off function.
Why do we recommend it?
The best:
- Very warm micropolar fabric.
- Fluffy filling.
- Remote control with large screen and well-distributed buttons.
- Nine hour timer.
- Nine heat levels.
To improve:
- An automatic shutdown function is needed.
Other alternatives to the best electric blanket
Beurer HD 75 electric blanket
I really liked that the Beurer HD 75 electric blanket does incorporate an automatic shut-off function, unlike the winning model. However, it has three lower temperature levels and its plush fabric sheds a lot of lint.

How does it heat?
The Beurer HD 75 electric blanket, measuring 180 x 130 mm, has a good finish and the feeling to the touch is pleasant, as it is very soft. The only “but,” when it comes to the design, is that its plush fiber sheds more lint than I would have liked. Even so, when I wrapped myself in it I felt comfortable and very comfortable. Meanwhile, the control knob is quickly removed and connected to the blanket. This remote control includes a sliding switch with a double function: turning the blanket on and off, and controlling its six temperature levels. In addition, at the top it integrates a light indicator: it is a small red light that remains steady when the blanket is on.
With a power of 100 watts, the heat is distributed quite evenly. In this regard, special mention must be made of the travel of the button that functions as a sliding switch, because it is not necessary to exert much force to change position. So that the blanket begins to give us warmth as soon as possible, it is advisable to start directly from level three or four. From a safety point of view, it has an automatic disconnection function that causes the blanket to disconnect after three hours. It can be put in the washing machine at a temperature of 30º.
Why do we recommend it?
The best:
- Very warm and comfortable.
- Removable remote control.
- Good heat distribution.
- Automatic shutdown function.
- Six temperature levels.
To improve:
- The fabric sheds a lot of lint.
Medical teddy electric blanket HB
Although it offers good power, the Medisana HB 675 electric blanket only has four adjustable heat levels. In addition, the screen cannot be seen in the dark, although it does incorporate an automatic shutdown system.

How does it heat?
Perhaps the weakest point that I have found in the Medisana HB 675 electric blanket is that it only has four heat levels. Therefore, it is the most limited model in the comparison in this sense. Even so, it has 120 W of power, so it is capable of delivering the same maximum temperature as others and only has fewer ranges to choose from. On the other hand, its automatic shutdown system after three hours of inactivity is very convenient.
Another slight downside to this blanket is that when it’s completely dark, it’s hard to see the heat levels on the screen. The only reference is a green light that indicates when it is on. In any case, during the tests I have noticed that it warms very well and its microfiber fabric is very pleasant to the touch. Of course, the remote control and its wiring can be removed to wash the blanket in the washing machine.
Why do we recommend it?
The best:
- Skin-friendly fabric.
- Very warm and comfortable.
To improve:
- It only has four heat levels.
- You can’t see the screen in the dark.
Electric Blanket FAQ
What is an electric blanket and what is it for?
An electric blanket differs from a normal blanket in that it transmits heat, which is why it is considered an economical alternative to heating if we do not want to turn it on all the time. Thus, it can be used to snuggle up on the couch or to warm the bed before going to sleep. Even if our body is sore or we feel that our joints and muscles are tired, a blanket of this type relaxes and relieves pain.
How does an electric blanket work?
These blankets include various cables through which low voltage electric current ‘moves’ to transmit heat; a heat that is controlled by the control they incorporate and that allows us to choose between several temperature levels according to our needs or how cold we are. Likewise, it is common for them to have an anti-overheating function and automatic shutdown for greater safety.
How do you use an electric blanket?
To use it, you must connect it to the electrical current through the included cable, activate the power button and regulate the desired temperature or heat level from its remote control. It is important, on the other hand, to take into account some recommendations, such as, for example, that if the electric blanket is used in bed, it should never be placed under the sheets.
How much does an electric blanket consume?
One of the main purchase arguments related to this type of home accessories is that the energy consumption and expense is lower than that of heating. In this sense, it is possible to find electric blankets with 100 or 120 watts of power that offer good results.
How long can the electric blanket be used?
Each person can use it according to their needs. It is about making you feel as comfortable and at ease as possible. In addition, incorporating temperature level control helps regulate heat. If it is used to relieve muscle or joint pain (or contracture), investing 20 minutes per session is sufficient; However, if you have any questions, we can always contact a professional.
How to wash an electric blanket?
Most of these blankets can be washed in the washing machine using a 30ºC wash programme. However, it is important to read the instruction manual where all the recommendations and advice are detailed so that this cleaning is completed successfully. It is important, however, to remove the control knob and the cable that is connected to the outlet so that it does not get damaged.
