O site Flightradar24which is following the flight from Flamengo for Qatar, it has not been providing real-time information since 6:10 pm (Brasília time). Apparently, the plane left the site’s radar when it left the region covered by signal receivers on the ground while flying over the ocean. This often happens on charter flights over the sea.
Typically, only commercial flights rely on satellite transmission for tracking services. As soon as the aircraft approaches the coast of Africa, the signal should appear again on Flightradar24.
The issue of monitoring not appearing only happens for the Flightradar24 website. The radars on charter planes work fully when flying over the sea, resulting in extremely safe flights.
O Flightradar24 There is a page with explanations about reasons why a plane can disappear from the page’s radar.
“If you were tracking an aircraft on Flightradar24 and it suddenly disappeared, this is usually because the system has temporarily stopped receiving its signal. Common causes include:
-
Coverage gaps: The aircraft can pass through areas with limited or no coverage, such as oceans, remote regions or mountainous terrain. Tracking typically returns to normal when the plane re-enters a covered area.
-
Transponder and data source limitations: Tracking varies depending on the type of transponder used (for example, ADS-B or Mode S) and the data source. Some transponders work better at higher altitudes or in regions with good coverage.
-
Technical problems or GPS interference (GPS jamming): Loss of signal can also occur due to technical failures, atmospheric conditions or deliberate interference with the GPS. You can view current GPS jamming activity and affected areas on our dedicated page.”
This plane had disappeared from the radar in the same place where Flamengo’s plane disappeared and reappeared after crossing the ocean, almost reaching land again. So when Flamengo’s plane is close to the city of Accra, Ghana will reappear on the radar! It’s just an area without coverage pic.twitter.com/qSdoVoh3si
