Fuel prices fall again this week

Effects of trade war lead to the price of fuel

The week begins with another reduction in fuel prices: diesel drops by two cents and gasoline by half a cent per liter. The Government ensures that the correction in the ISP discount will not have an impact on the amount paid by consumers.

From today onwards, diesel costs an average of 1.55 euros per liter, a drop of two cents. Gasoline falls by half a cent, standing at 1.68 euros per liter. This reduction follows the trend of recent weeks, marked by successive downward adjustments.

In response to criticism about the reduction in the discount on the Tax on Petroleum Products, Luís Montenegro assured in Parliament that this decision will not cause any increase in the final price. The Prime Minister stressed that the Government is just “correcting a discount that had to be corrected”, taking advantage of the significant drop in international prices.

In response to the leader of Chega during the fortnightly debate in the Assembly of the Republic, on Friday, Montenegro highlighted that gasoline and diesel are around 20 cents cheaper per liter than in March 2022, stressing that the measure does not remove benefits for consumers.
