A 65-year-old man died after going to dinner with his wife at the beach. He was run over by a car driven by a 22-year-old man who was speeding through a traffic stop. The driver fled and surrendered to the police station the next day, but was released.
As reported by , José Manuel Teixeira and his wife were returning to their car, when they were run over, next to Canide Sul beach, in Canidelo, Vila Nova de Gaia.
The victims were run over by one of two cars that were speeding along at high speed. The man died there. The 64-year-old woman was injured in her leg.
“This is not the first accident that has happened in this area. attractive straight for high-speed cars. There have already been contacts with the municipality because there are many scares”, he revealed to CM, the owner was a restaurant where the victims had dinner before the accident.
Young man turned himself in, but was released
The 22-year-old driver fled after the collision and ended up handing himself in only the following morning at the Canidelo PSP police station.
Still, according to , the suspect was not detained.
According to a source from the PSP in Porto, the conditions were not met to proceed with his arrest, as there was no flagrant crime.
The young man was accused and provided an identity and residence statement.
