Japan issues three-meter tsunami warning after magnitude 7.2 earthquake

A tsunami with waves that can reach three meters high threatens the northeast coast of Japan, following an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 registered this Monday off the coast. The information was provided by the Reuters Agency, which cites the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The agency reported that the earthquake hit the coast of Hokkaido, near the coastal city of Aomori, with its epicenter about 50 kilometers below the sea surface.

The agency issued a warning in the region for a tsunami of up to 3 meters.
