A man was arrested on Sunday, in the early evening after robbing a jewelry store in the Vasco da Gama shopping center, in Lisbon. The robber used a crowbar and, with his face covered, broke shop windows and jewelry displays. The man managed to remove several items of value before trying to escape.
The escape was prevented by the shopping center’s security guards, who immobilized him until the PSP arrived. An officer who was nearby made the arrest and the suspect was taken to the police station for formal procedures.
During his escape, the robber dropped several stolen objects, some of which had been collected by customers, a situation that authorities are investigating.
According to the newspaper Sol, the PSP Lisbon Metropolitan Command confirmed that the individual took objects valued at around 20 thousand euros and that there were no injuries.
