What gingerbread spice do you buy? This one has the best composition

We can find plenty in cookbooks and on the Internet. Their common ingredient is gingerbread spice – without it, we will get ordinary cakes that have nothing to do with Christmas. We tell you which spice is the best.

Gingerbread spice is a mixture of spices, i.e. cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, anise, cloves, etc. The best quality products contain a large amount of them.

It is also worth paying attention to the cinnamon in the composition. Ceylonese is a better choice than cassia. Products containing it are more valuable and better for our health.

The quality of gingerbread spice is also determined by the amount of sugar in the composition. The less of this ingredient, the better. It would be good if the product did not contain simple sugars at all. Fillers, i.e. flour or cocoa, are also unnecessary.

The popular gingerbread spice “Prymat” has as much as 63 g of simple sugars in 100 g of the product. There are much more of them than, for example, cinnamon (15%) or cloves (12%). It also contains unnecessary cocoa. Therefore, we do not consider this product to be a good choice.

Another spice that we took a closer look at is the one from the “Kamis” company. There are slightly less sugars, 50 g in 100 g of the product, but it is still a lot.

The worst option is spices for gingerbread and mulled wine by Dr. Oetker. The spice mixture constitutes only 17% of its composition. The amount of simple sugars is terrifying – it amounts to as much as 80 g in 100 g of the product.

The best spices for gingerbread are those from “Kotanyi”, “Belbake” from Lidl and “Dary Natury”. All three do not contain a single gram of sugar.

So the question arises: which one is the best? Our ranking is won by the ecological gingerbread spice “Dary Natury”. Why?

Except that it does not contain sugar, but it has much better Ceylon cinnamon. It also contains other spices, such as orange peel, ginger, anise fruit, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom, marigold petals, and vanilla (in various proportions). This mixture is absolutely perfect.
