Vehicle was shot in the West Zone of Rio; child underwent surgery and remains hospitalized in very serious condition
A man and a woman were murdered on Monday night (8) on Avenida Brasil, near the Oscar Brito viaduct, in Campo Grande, West Zone of Brazil. The victims were in a car accompanied by a baby, who was also hit by the shots.
The child was shot twice in one of his legs. Rescued by members of the public, she was taken to Pedro II Municipal Hospital, in Santa Cruz. The unit’s management reported that the baby underwent surgery and remains hospitalized in a very serious condition. The Guardianship Council was called.
According to the Federal Highway Police, the vehicle was found shot on a construction site in the direction of Santa Cruz. The man was identified as Yuri Garcez Honorato, while the woman is still awaiting official identification. Both died at the scene and the bodies were taken to the Center’s Legal Medical Institute (IML).
The Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) took over the case and is working to identify the perpetrators and the motivation for the crime. The region is currently experiencing an intense territorial dispute between drug traffickers and militia groups.
