- President Petr Pavel will appoint the government of Andrej Babiš on December 15.
- Filip Turek is missing from the list due to health problems.
- The Ministry of the Environment will be temporarily headed by Petr Macinka.
Czech President Petr Pavel will appoint the government of Andrej Babiš in the composition proposed by the chairman of the ANO movement on Monday, December 15. This was announced by the Prague Castle on Tuesday, reports TASR in Prague.
According to his office, by appointing Babiš as Prime Minister, the President is fulfilling the will of the Czech citizens, which they expressed in the elections. “Today, Andrej Babiš also submitted to the president a proposal for appointing members of the government with the authority to manage ministries. The President will appoint the government in the proposed composition on Monday, December 15 at 9:00 a.m.,” the castle said in a press release.
The only change in the proposal of candidates for members of the future government, compared to the unofficial list, is the missing name of Filip Turk, the honorary president of the Motoristi sebe party. According to the agreement of the emerging government, he was supposed to be nominated for the position of Minister of the Environment.
Both Babiš and the chairman of Motorists, Petr Macinka, stated that the only reason why he was missing from the list was his health indisposition. The resort will be temporarily led by Macinka. He emphasized that the Motorists are not looking for a replacement for Turk and he only wants to “guard” the position at the head of the Ministry of the Environment.
