Halibut meat is considered healthier and tastier than carp. If you don’t attach much importance to tradition, you can definitely serve it to your guests and family members on the Christmas Eve table. The advantage of halibut is, among other things, its more delicate taste and fewer bones than carp.
What is worth knowing about halibut? It is a saltwater fish from the flounder family and is its largest representative. It can be found most often in the northern waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Interestingly, this species also occasionally appears in the Baltic Sea. This fish is not a marine beauty, it has an oval, elongated body, asymmetrical structure and gray-brown scales. It usually reaches 50 to 130 cm in length. Apparently the largest specimens can be up to 3.5 m long and weigh 300 kg. It is a predatory fish that feeds on the bottom in cold waters. Halibut meat is white, tender, lean, without high fat content. They can be prepared in many ways.
Absolutely yes, halibut will be a good choice for your health. Its meat is rich in proteinwhich is an essential building material for the body. It affects the functioning and regeneration of muscles, and is also important for maintaining the good condition of hair, skin and nails. Additionally, protein affects the satiety of the meal.

Halibut is suitable for frying, baking, grilling and smoking. To prepare fried halibut in butter, you will need:
- 1,5 kg halibuta,
- 2 eggs,
- flour for breading,
- breadcrumbs for breading,
- sun,
- lemon pepper,
- lemon juice,
- clarified butter for frying.
Preparation:
- Divide the cleaned fish into portions. Sprinkle with salt, lemon pepper and sprinkle with lemon juice. Place the prepared fish in the refrigerator for an hour.
- In three bowls, prepare the flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs, then coat the halibut pieces.
- Heat the clarified butter in a frying pan, fry the fish over medium heat for about four minutes on each side, until it is nicely browned.
Serve the finished halibut with potatoes or bread and cabbage with mushrooms.
