Former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro stepped down from the Presidency of PL Mulher for medical reasons. The information was released this Monday, 8th, by the party and shared by Michelle on her social networks. According to the note, former president Jair Bolsonaro’s wife had already been suffering from “health changes” that “were worsened” after her husband’s arrest.
“President Michelle had been dealing with some changes in her health and, in recent months, especially as a result of the tensions surrounding the arrest of her husband and the constant injustices done to her and her family, her immunity was affected and these changes were aggravated, making it necessary for her to temporarily withdraw from party activities.”
According to PL Mulher, Michelle Bolsonaro “will comply with the initial medical leave prescribed for her and, after the end of this period, will be subject to a new reevaluation”. As a result, a PL Mulher event initially scheduled for December 13th in Rio de Janeiro was transferred to next year and should take place in April.

Michelle’s departure comes after Jair Bolsonaro was arrested at the Federal Police Superintendence in Brasília and was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison for the coup plot confirmed by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and also after his stepson Flávio Bolsonaro announced that he was chosen by his father as a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026.
As shown by the EstadãoBolsonaro did not inform the first lady about the choice of Flávio. Michelle is also listed as a candidate, but the most likely scenario is that she will run for the Senate in the Federal District.
