Three months after announcing on his social networks that he will hold an exhibition fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2026, former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson revealed, this Monday, that the “Legend x Legend” confrontation will take place in March.

“It’s going to happen in March and it’s going to be in Africa. It’s going to be incredible, we’re going to break all records. It’s going to be one of the biggest events in the history of sport,” Tyson wrote on his social media.

Tyson, 59, last fought in November last year, when he lost to YouTuber Jake Paul, on points, after eight rounds. Unofficially, “Iron Man” won a $20 million purse. He was the youngest heavyweight champion when he defeated Trevor Berbick in 1986 at the age of 20.

Mayweather, 48, was the super featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight champion. He finished his professional career undefeated, with 50 victories. He had an exhibition fight in 2018.

Tyson and Mayweather’s intention is for more events involving ‘retired’ fighters to be held as exhibitions. A ‘league’ is under consideration, along with US sports TV channels.
