Organized Crime CPI approves Bacellar’s summons and invitation to Garotinho

The CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) on Organized Crime in the Senate approved this Tuesday (9) the summons of state deputy Rodrigo Bacellar (União-RJ), president of Alerj (Legislative Assembly of the state of Rio de Janeiro), and an invitation to the former governor and former security secretary of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Garotinho.

Bacellar in the last week. He is suspected of leaking confidential information from the PF (Federal Police) operation, which resulted in the arrest of deputy Thiego Silva, for alleged links with Comando Vermelho and the use of its mandate to launder money.

Known as “TH Joias”, Thiego would have received messages from Bacellar that indicated that the president of Alerj knew about the operation. TH left the residence the day before, but ended up arrested at another address.

After Bacellar’s arrest, Garotinho publicly the case. “As I predicted a few days ago, Rodrigo Bacellar has just been arrested,” he said on social media.

The request to invite Garotinho was presented by the CPI rapporteur, senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE). According to the request, the former governor has “qualified knowledge” about the dynamics of organized crime and its “possible connections with public agents.”

In the document, Vieira argues that Garotinho’s presence will be relevant for senators to deepen their understanding of the infiltration mechanisms of organized crime in state structures.
