‘Project will be the toughest response Brazil has ever given to organized crime’, says Alessandro Vieira about PL Antifaction

The senator rapporteur of the no gave an interview to Jornal da Manhã, from Young Panthis Tuesday (9). During the conversation, the parliamentarian advanced central points of the opinion that will be presented to the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) this Wednesday (10), detailing adjustments to the text and the guidelines he intends to defend to combat criminal organizations in the country.

After four versions were presented in the Chamber, much discussion was generated in the National Congress. Asked about possible changes made by the Senate to the Chamber’s text, Vieira stated that changes and corrections were made to the proposal, however, the “essence was maintained”.

“We maintained the basic spirit of criminal hardening, toughening the process and the execution of the sentence. But, we added some other things from the point of view of integration and financing. We corrected some flaws, which in the Senate’s view, are constitutional flaws”, declared the rapporteur of the Anti-Faction Project in the Senate.

For Alessandro Vieira, the project marks the most rigorous measure that Brazil has ever presented in confronting the . “Not just the armed factions, but the entire structure that supports and feeds these organizations, including decapitalization measures and the creation of a specific fund to finance combat actions.”
