Accident occurred 200 km from Moscow; There is no information about the health status of the victims
A military plane with seven occupants crashed this Tuesday (9), in the city of Ivanobo, about 200 kilometers from Moscow, in . At the time of publication of this article, there was no information about the health status of the victims. According to The Moscow Times, the aircraft was on a test flight after undergoing repairs. “Today, in the Ivanovo region, during a test flight after repairs, an An-22 military transport aircraft crashed,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement carried by state media. “The plane crashed in an uninhabited area,” added the ministry.
After the crash, the aircraft broke into pieces. Rescue teams were sent to the scene, as was a commission from the Aerospace Forces. An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the accident. According to the Moscow Times, the plane crash has nothing to do with Russia’s war in Ukraine nor any accusation of involvement by Kiev.
The AN-22 is a cargo transport aircraft developed in the 1960s by the Soviet Union to transport heavy cargo, troops and military equipment.
