The North Atlantic Alliance is increasing espionage activities in the Arctic. The Russian admiral drew attention to the deployment of observation planes and drones in Finland.
The countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are intensifying their espionage activities in the Arctic region. This was announced on Tuesday by the commander of the Russian naval forces, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev. TASR took the information from the Reuters agency.
According to Moiseyev, NATO’s anti-submarine aircraft in Iceland have been much more active in the past period. The United States, Canada and Great Britain have their observation planes deployed on the island. The Russian admiral also mentioned NATO’s plans to deploy strategic surveillance drones in Finland.
Deployment of drones
Moiseyev also said that Western countries neighboring the Arctic region are significantly accelerating the construction of icebreakers and focusing on modern multi-functional unmanned aerial vehicles for military and dual purposes.
“These steps prove that Russia is forming military instruments of deterrence in the Arctic,” the admiral added, according to the TASS agency. According to him, the goal of the Alliance is to limit Russian activities in the Arctic.
