Fish in Greek it popular holiday dishwhich appears on many Polish tables. These are pieces or fillets of fish with stewed vegetables, served hot or cold. The dish is usually made with carrots, parsley, onions, celery and tomato paste.
However, it is worth diversifying the annual delicacy a bit and this time preparing a great alternative. Hawaiian-style fish perfectly combines sweet, spicy and sour flavors. It will definitely be a hit on the Christmas table. How to prepare it?
Hawaiian-style fish is distinguished by its well-balanced flavors. It is slightly spicy thanks to the onion and chili pepper, and at the same time sour thanks to the tomato paste. Pineapple, on the other hand, provides a bit of sweetness. All this creates a neat whole that everyone will like. Anyone who is used to eating Greek fish during the holidays will certainly welcome Hawaiian fish on the table with curiosity.
What’s more, Hawaiian-style fish is much easier and faster to prepare. There is no need to laboriously grate vegetables. Salmon fans will certainly be delighted, because this one is perfect for preparing the dish. As with Greek fish, the Hawaiian version can also be served both cold and warm.
The recipe for Hawaiian fish is very simple. Everyone can handle it and shine with their culinary talent at the Christmas Eve table. What will we need to prepare the dish?
Ingredients:
- 6 pieces of fresh salmon or other fish (at least 0.5 kg),
- pickled red pepper in a jar,
- canned pineapples,
- 3 small onions,
- tomato paste (small jar),
- spicy ketchup (3-4 tablespoons),
- salt, lemon pepper, coarsely ground black pepper and chili for taste.
Preparation:
- Simply cut the fish fillets into smaller pieces, season with salt and lemon pepper for better taste, and then fry in a pan in rapeseed oil.
- Remove the fish from the pan and fry the diced onion on it. Then add diced pineapples and pickled peppers. Stew these products for a few minutes, stirring frequently.
- Combine all the fried ingredients in a larger bowl and then pour in a small amount of canned pineapple syrup. Add the concentrate and ketchup to the bowl, as well as the rest of the spices. Ultimately, the sauce should be balanced in taste, slightly sweet, slightly sour and slightly spicy.
Add the fried fish pieces to the prepared sauce. Mix everything lightly and the finished dish can be served on the table.
