However, the president of Santos, Marcelo Teixeira, said he will make every effort possible to count on the star.
– Neymar’s project is until the 2026 World Cup, we are doing this reassessment every six months and this is another moment. But we’re going to do everything we need to so that Neymar continues – he said during the Brasileirão Prize, organized by the CBF, in Rio de Janeiro.
The contract renewal should begin to be drawn up in the next few days, with the player’s father. Meanwhile, Neymar is taking care of his injury. The player will soon undergo arthroscopy on his left knee to perform a partial meniscectomy, a procedure similar to a “shaving” of the meniscus.

Neymar only has a contract with Santos until December 31st, but the project, since his return in January this year, was designed to be completed in a year and a half, until the World Cup.
Neymar is keeping alive his dream of playing in the 2026 World Cup, a competition that could mark the player’s last participation in the World Cup. Therefore, the intention of the number 10 is to accelerate rehabilitation as much as possible.
The objective is to present ideal physical conditions to enter coach Carlo Ancelotti’s final list in the Brazilian team. The 2026 World Cup will be played from June 11th to July 19th.
