The federal government began a complete reformulation of services linked to driver licensing. The program Brazilian driver’s license involved the issuance of a new resolution from the National Traffic Council (Contran) that regulates driver training. However, a change already affects all drivers already licensed.
Is that the old application Digital Traffic Card (CDT) becomes called Brazilian driver’s licensea name that accompanies the new visual identity and reflects the expansion of functionalities offered to the public. The change is automatic and is already being implemented. This is the biggest change in recent decades.
New application and digital start of the First Qualification
The main novelty of the new app Brazilian driver’s license is the First Qualification Daywhich now allows the CNH process to be initiated directly through the application or through the Ministry of Transport website. The tool centralizes all stages, from the initial request to the issuance of the CNH Digitalmaking it easier to monitor the candidate.
Os other resources that already existed in the CDT app remain. Once with the CNH or Driving Permit (PPD), the user has access to the digital document that has legal validity. Furthermore, the Brazilian CNH app concentrates vehicle documents in the name of the user (Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV), as well as information about traffic citations and educational programs.
Online theoretical course
The app also has a link to the content of the theoretical course for obtaining a driver’s license, previously only offered by driver training centers and now available free of charge. All material is hosted on the Ministry of Transport portal and follows the national guidelines of the Brazilian Traffic Code.
The regulation of Brazil’s CNH program also changes the format of practical classes. The mandatory minimum number decreases to two hoursallowing the candidate to decide how many additional classes they wish to take. Training can be done in driving schools or with independent instructors accredited by Detransexpanding hiring options and reducing dependence on traditional institutions.
How to update to the new model?
The migration from the CDT to the Brazilian CNH will be automatic for users who were already using the previous application. The government only advises updating the app in official stores. Digital documents, such as the CNH and CRLV, remain valid and accessible normally.
In addition to the structural changes, the CNH do Brasil application received performance updates. Among the improvements are more fluid navigation, shorter response time and a reorganized interface to facilitate access to documents and services, including fines, points on the driver’s license and licensing.
Understand
The resolution, unanimously approved last week, simplifies steps, removes the obligation to go to a driving school to take the driving test, expands ways for candidates to prepare and reduces the total cost of the driver’s license by up to 80%.
The text provides for a free and digital theoretical course, flexibility in practical classes and openness to instructors accredited by traffic departments (Detrans). The process can be opened via the Ministry of Transport website or via the Digital Traffic Card (CDT).
Already the application will make it possible to obtain a driver’s license without the need to go to a driving school, providing material for would-be drivers to study traffic rules. Those who wish can still take theoretical and practical classes at a driving school.
Data from the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran) indicate that 20 million Brazilians drive without a license while 30 million are old enough to have a driver’s license, but do not have the document mainly because they are unable to cover the costs, which can reach R$5,000.
