Women’s defense police stations across the state have intensified their investigations and protective measures in the last 21 days
The Civil Police are carrying out a significant operation against female attackers in an ongoing effort to combat gender-based violence. This action takes place shortly after the transfer of 26-year-old Douglas Alves to the Guarulhos Provisional Detention Center. Alves is accused of a brutal crime, in which he allegedly ran over and dragged Tainara Souza Santos for 1 km on Marginal Tietê. The court converted his temporary detention into preventive detention, intensifying measures against crimes of violence.
The operation, called Hera 2, is a milestone in the end of 21 days of activism to end violence against women. During this period, women’s defense police stations across the state intensified their investigations and protective measures. The name of the operation refers to the goddess Hera, symbolizing female strength and resilience. Several police teams are deployed on the streets to serve arrest warrants throughout the state of São Paulo, with the aim of capturing fugitive attackers.
Since the start of the campaign, on November 20, the Civil Police has registered more than 21,000 police reports and issued 8,000 urgent protective measures. In addition, 305 arrest reports were made and 200 court orders were complied with, resulting in 914 arrests in the act. These numbers reflect the authorities’ commitment to confronting gender-based violence with concrete and effective actions.
