The defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) this Tuesday (9) for authorization to perform “immediate” surgery, due to the worsening of his health problem. “The former president needs to undergo surgery both to treat hiccups, a consequence of the surgeries already recorded in the present case, and due to the worsening diagnosis of unilateral inguinal hernia, which also indicates the need for surgical intervention”, says the document.

According to the medical bulletin attached to the authorization request, “the patient Jair Messias Bolsonaro is developing prolonged incoercible hiccups that are refractory to conventional measures”, says the document. “The patient also presents, as evidenced in a previously sent report, a diagnosis of unilateral inguinal hernia (ICD 10 K 40.9) with indication of surgical treatment, called conventional inguinal herniorrhaphy (TUSS 31009115)”, he says.

According to the request, the surgical interventions required today require immediate hospitalization, lasting 5 to 7 days.
