Trump praised his administration’s progress in protecting the US border, emphasizing its importance to security and comparing it to North Korea’s tight security.
US President Donald Trump praised his administration’s border and immigration security policy on Tuesday. He noted that there is only one country with stronger borders than the US – North Korea. TASR informs about it based on a report by the Jonhap agency.
Trump spoke about the topic during a speech on the American economy in Pennsylvania. He highlighted his administration’s progress on border security, which he said has resulted in no illegal immigrants entering the United States in seven months.
“I think North Korea has a stronger border… North Korea has seven wire fences and each one is under a million volts,” he claimed. “So if you get past one, you’re dead on the next one. If you get past one, you’re going to be in very bad shape. If you get past two, you’re going to set a record,” the White House chief said. Nevertheless, he described the United States as a country with “one of the strongest borders in the world.”
“I think we’ll let North Korea have the most secure borders … but ours are pretty secure, too,” the US leader said, crediting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for the military’s efforts to help secure them.
Tightening border security
Since taking office, the Trump administration has been tightening measures in the area of border security and immigration policy on the grounds that it protects American jobs and maintains national security, writes Jonhap.
