María Corina Machado’s daughter, Ana Corina Sosa, received the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize on her mother’s behalf this Wednesday, awarded at a ceremony in Oslo in which the leader of the Venezuelan opposition did not participate.
María Corina Machado was unable to attend the ceremony in time for reasons yet to be specified, after traveling from Venezuela and without the details of the trip being disclosed for security reasons.
Machado’s daughter took to the stage to receive the diploma and gold medal from the president of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Jorgen Watne Frydnesel, on behalf of her mother, in front of a huge ovation from everyone present, including King Harald V of Norway.
