With the well-known Russian position that “the special military operation”, i.e. , will be completed when it achieves all its goals, and with the also classic argument that “the territories returned from Ukraine are important, since Donbass and Novorossiya have always been part of Russia”, Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to the movements from the side in the last days.

Putin’s statements demonstrate that the Russian leadership, despite any peace talks with the US, does not appear willing to even discuss the European and Ukrainian plan, which Zelensky made clear with his statements that it is not possible to foresee land concessions.
What does Zelensky say about the new proposal?
For his part, the president of Ukraine asserted that the European and Ukrainian plans are ready and both sides are ready to present the next steps for the peace process to the US, stressing that Kiev remains committed to a meaningful peace.
In his post he explained that “we have already discussed with the negotiating team the results of yesterday’s meeting in London, held at the level of national security advisors of our European partners. This was agreed the day before by the leaders.”

Zelensky noted that an intense effort is being made to make the steps towards peace as realistic and workable as possible. “In cooperation with the United States, we hope to move forward as soon as possible,” he said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the progress of the process depends on whether Russia will demonstrate a willingness to take “substantial measures” to end the conflict and to avoid a new escalation. “Everything is judged by whether Russia will decide to stop the bloodshed and prevent the resumption of conflicts,” he stressed.
In closing, the Ukrainian president announced that “soon we will be ready to send the final documents to the United States.”
