SNS management says that Amadora-Sintra "is the main problem" in (another) morning of chaos in the country's emergency rooms

The executive director of the SNS admits that the Amadora-Sintra hospital is the most problematic in the country, mainly due to the lack of human resources.

This Wednesday morning will once again be marked by strong constraints in the emergency room. At Santa Maria hospital, very urgent patients, with an orange bracelet, have to wait more than ten hours. In the case of urgent patients, the delay is approximately seven hours.

At the Amadora-Sintra hospital, a patient with a yellow bracelet wait more than 12 hours.

Also at Beatriz Ângelo hospital, in Loures, the situation is difficult, with urgent patients facing almost ten hours of waiting.

At São João hospital, in Porto, the waiting time is around five hours.

Amadora-Sintra “it’s the main problem in the NHS”

The executive director of the SNS admits that the Amadora-Sintra hospital is the most problematic in the country, mainly due to the lack of human resources.

However, it informs that the waiting times on the portal SNS are not always correct.

The Government reinforces the importance of vaccinating risk groups and using a mask whenever necessary, as a way of stopping the spread of the virus.

With the increase in cases and the impact on emergencies, hospitals may face more constraints in the coming weeks.

The Government is considering suspending some scheduled surgeries if hospital pressure increases significantly. However, urgent and oncological surgeries will not be affected.
