Tornado leaves three people dead in Santa Catarina

At least three people died in victim of a tornado that hit the region. “I received with great sadness the news of the death of a couple and a baby in Palhoça. My solidarity goes out to their families and the community. Security forces are already working in high-risk areas. But I reinforce the request: avoid flooded areas or areas with signs of collapse and only leave your home in cases of extreme necessity”, declared the governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello (SC). The situation in Santa Catarina is worth paying attention to. This Tuesday (9), rainfall in the municipality of Santo Amaro exceeded 146 mm in six hours. The expected level for the month of December in the region is around 130 mm. State civil defenses recommend avoiding traffic during storms and staying away from trees, signs, walls, power poles or even windows that are exposed to the wind.
