“I’ve always worked with artists, it was a good fit for me: first for the manager of Hundertwasser, then from 1990 for ten years for Helmut Lang. Both were absolutely uncompromising. I was responsible for everything organizational at Helmut Lang, from accounting to correspondence to shopping. We worked under different conditions back then: drawings were sent by fax, we had no email, no cell phone. He demanded a lot, the work was strenuous. At the same time, Helmut, I have Peter I never mentioned him, I got as many roses for my birthday as I grew old. I was always there at the fashion shows. Michèle Montagne did the PR for the shows in Paris, but there were always disasters that I had to deal with for two or three days in Paris. In Vienna we were a small team of three or four people and we were very close to each other. We had a lot of fun In the evening, Helmut usually cooked pasta for us – it was served with silver cutlery and white linen napkins every now and then and he explained that he definitely didn’t eat half of it. There was something going on in Vienna back then: there was the U4, the Bermuda Triangle, the Cactus Bar and we still had 200 of his clothes When he later cut up a number of clothes for his art, I didn’t give him a piece. I couldn’t and didn’t want to part with my memories: It was a great time, probably the most strenuous and interesting of my life.”
