Carlos Areia suffered a fall and fractured his ankle. The actor has been hospitalized in recent days, as shared by his wife, Rosa Bela, on social media, where the actress also expressed her indignation at the “failures” in the National Health Service ().
Since there has been a lot of news in the press about the 81-year-old actor’s health status, Rosa Bela decided to issue a statement on the afternoon of this Thursday, December 11th.
“In the early hours of Friday, Carlos slipped due to the wet floor, which resulted in a broken ankle. Unfortunately, it was not possible to have an ambulance available at that time, so we had to transport him in our car to Garcia de Orta Hospital”began by explaining.
The actress also added that Carlos Areia is “currently hospitalized and being monitored in an exemplary manner by the orthopedics service”: “Due to the condition of his ankle, the medical team is keeping watch until he is fully ready for surgery. Carlos is fine, calm, with the sense of humor that characterizes him so well and as we often say jokingly, it could have been worse (…). Soon, Carlos will be home recovering, to return to the stage and do what he loves. Thank you all”he concluded, showing his gratitude for the concern of the last few days.
