In a turnaround, this Wednesday (10), the deputy (-RJ) was suspended for six months instead of being impeached for kicking an MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre) activist, one day after he was forcibly expelled from the plenary by the legislative police.

By 226 to 220, just 6 votes difference, the Chamber decided to vote, before the impeachment, on a lesser punishment of six months of suspension. The suspension was then approved by 318 to 141.
The loss of the deputy’s mandate was expected in the House, as he does not have political support and support from the main parties. This further aggravated Glauber’s situation, but the deputy received support to soften his sentence and also free himself from ineligibility.
Left-wing deputies went so far as to say that the aggression was a mistake, but it did not justify the impeachment.
