Clash on Via Dutra leaves one dead and 37 injured in Taubaté

A serious accident involving six vehicles resulted in the death of one person and left another 37 injured in the early hours of Thursday (11), on the Presidente Dutra highway, in Taubaté (SP). The pileup occurred at around 3am, at km 107, on the road in the direction of .

According to CCR RioSP, the concessionaire that manages the highway, the collision involved four trucks, a bus and a passenger car. The Fire Department confirmed that the bus driver did not survive his injuries and died at the scene.

Among the 37 injured, 32 suffered only minor bruises, were treated by emergency teams at the scene and were subsequently released. Another five victims, classified as having moderate injuries, were taken to the Taubaté Regional Hospital. Until the closing of this report, there was no updated medical report on the health status of these patients.

Fuel leak

The impact of the crash caused fuel to leak onto the track. Fire Department teams worked to isolate the area to contain the liquid and prevent further accidents.

The incident led to a total closure of the road during the early hours of the morning, causing a traffic jam of at least 10 kilometers. At around 7am, traffic was partially reopened, with two lanes flowing and one remaining blocked. At 8am, traffic in the area was still slow.

The circumstances and causes of the accident have not yet been clarified by the competent authorities.
