Flamengo’s opponent, Pyramids has a Brazilian player; get to know

After eliminating Cruz Azul in the Intercontinental Cup, Flamengo will face Pyramids, a team from Egypt. Despite being little known in Brazil, the African team knows Brazilians well.

Born in Amapá and aged 28, Ewerton Paixão da Silva arrived in Egypt last season and was part of the club’s great achievements in 2025: the triple crown with the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup titles, the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup.

Ewerton began his professional career at Água Santa, from Diadema, in 2013. The striker had spells at Esporte Clube São Bernardo, from São Bernardo do Campo, and Pato Branco, from Paraná.

In 2016, Ewerton began his stints in European football, first going to Zlaté Moravce, from Croatia, and then to Maladá Boleslav, FK Pardubice, Slava Praha and Baník Ostrava, all from the Czech Republic.

It was in the 2024/25 season, at Ostrava, that Everton scored 16 goals in 33 matches and aroused the interest of investors from the United Arab Emirates, owners of Pyramids.

For the African team, he has already played in 17 games, scored two goals and provided one assist in the current season. Ewerton is right-handed, known for his ability with the ball and plays both on the left and right wing.
