Strike on buses in Lisbon and Porto generates moments of tension with the police

The early hours of this Thursday were marked by moments of great tension between strike pickets and the PSP, both in Porto and Lisbon. Videos were published on social media associated with the CGTP and the PCP showing police officers removing protesters from STCP buses, where attempts were made to block the exit of the vehicles.

A similar situation occurred in Lisbon, in Musgueira, the starting point for several Carris lines. The strike picket sat on the ground to prevent buses from circulating, but was eventually removed by the PSP to avoid clashes with drivers who were trying to start service.

The strike arises in the context of joint actions by CGTP and UGT against the revision of labor legislation proposed by the Government. This is the first strike called jointly by the two unions in more than a decade.
