The governor (Republicans) said this Thursday (11), in , that the Dosimetry PL was “what was possible at the moment” and argued that “new steps” should be sought to amnesty (PL).
“[O PL da Dosimetria] It’s possible at the moment. I understand that we need to seek a path to pacification and reestablishment of justice. We have to take the steps possible, what was possible politically was this”, he said.
Tarcísio, passed over by the former president when nominating his name for the Presidency next year, from the vote that approved the emergency regime, in September, for the amnesty bill, approved on the 17th of that month.
At the time, when he was nominated as presidential candidate by the leaders of the main center-right parties, the governor spent two days in Brasília negotiating the approval of the text.
The proposal, however, was approved in a group with the Blindagem PEC, which was popularly rejected and led to demonstrations across the country against the rules approved by the Chamber. The PEC ended up buried in the Senate, and the Amnesty PL became the Dosimetry PL — which reduces the sentences for those convicted on January 8th, but does not free them from punishment.
Tarcísio was asked about the topic during a ceremony to hand over housing units that have a portion of their costs covered by the government, in Carapicuíba, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
“We are going to move forward with this step and we will think about the next ones later,” said the governor.
Still in August, days before starting the articulation in Congress, Tarcísio said, during an interview with Diário do Grande ABC, that, if he were elected president, he would grant amnesty to Bolsonaro “on the first day, first act”.
The text is now in the Senate’s CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee), under the report of Senator Esperidião Amin (PP-SC). This week, at an event at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, Tarcísio stated that he did not consider himself a political organizer, who promotes dinners, and that his focus will be on re-election in São Paulo.
