The government (SP) sent to the Legislative Assembly this Thursday (11) a bill that exempts motorcycles, mopeds and scooters of up to 150 engine capacity, owned by individuals, from IPVA.
The matter, which will be processed urgently, is aimed mainly at delivery app workers, who use these vehicles as a work tool. The text highlights the social and economic role of motorcycles in the state.
If approved, the exemption will come into effect from January 1, 2026 for vehicles in regular registration and licensing status.
The estimated loss of revenue is R$434 million in 2026. According to the government, the amount is consistent with the state’s fiscal goals for next year.
The project shows a nod from Tarcísio to a segment that has been gaining economic and political relevance in recent years.
The measure is presented at a time when the Lula government, with minister Guilherme Boulos (General Secretariat) at its head, . The issue should be highlighted in next year’s election.
