Civil Defense reported that there were no injuries or material damage as a result of the tremors.
One of magnitude 4.4 struck on Friday night (12) Araxá, a city in the interior of 367 km from the capital Belo Horizonte. According to information from Civil Defense, there were no injuries or material damage as a result of the earthquake. Mining companies in the region were called in for monitoring, and the dams are stable.
Residents mobilized the fire department after the earthquake to report the occurrence of loud bangs throughout the city lasting around 3 seconds, in addition to the sensation of tremors on the ground.
In a statement, the city of Araxá advised the population to remain calm and only follow instructions from official bodies. It also issued a warning about the possibility of new tremors this Saturday (13).
