A ceasefire in Ukraine will be discussed in Berlin on Sunday: Steve Witkoff will also arrive in Germany

Berlin will become the center of world diplomacy this weekend. Key negotiations on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine will start already on Sunday, in which representatives of the USA, Kyiv and European powers will participate.

Representatives of the United States, Ukraine, Germany and other countries will negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine on Sunday in Berlin. This was reported by the DPA agency on Saturday, citing German government sources, writes TASR.

  • Negotiations on the ceasefire in Ukraine will take place on Sunday in Berlin.
  • The United States is represented by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
  • The topic of the negotiations will be the US peace proposal from November.

Meeting details

Washington had previously announced that special envoy Steve Witkoff would arrive in Berlin, but the details of his visit were not initially known. The German government confirmed on Friday that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, several European leaders and heads of the European Union and NATO on Monday.

According to DPA, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron should also attend the meeting.

The agency recalls that since November, when the US peace proposal was published, there have been several rounds of negotiations between Washington, Kyiv and European partners, during which countries have submitted various amendments to this plan.
