A huge tragedy at a wedding celebration: The explosion injured more than 30 people, including children

More than 30 people, including children, were injured in an explosion that hit a wedding party in the southern Syrian city of Abdin on Friday night. This was reported by the DPA agency with reference to the state media and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

A representative of the health authorities in Daraa province told SANA that the total number of injured reached 33, including several children. The director of the hospital in the city of Dará informed that five of the admitted patients were children. He added that the condition of some of the injured is critical. Local residents told DPA that there was an unexpected explosion during the wedding ceremony, but they could not determine its source.

SOHR, which has been documenting the violence in Syria since 2011, said that unknown attackers threw a hand grenade at the wedding participants. The incident has again raised security concerns in Daraa province, where targeted attacks and the number of weapons among the population continue to threaten the lives of civilians, DPA stated.
