Who is Abdulrahman Al-Jassim?
Abdulrahman Al-Jassim is an elite referee from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), born in Qatar, born in October 1987. He began his career in refereeing in 2007 and debuted in his country’s national league in 2011, but it was in 2013 that his international career took off when he received the FIFA badge.
Since then, he has built a robust resume on the big stage. His highlight was acting “at home” in 2022 World Cupwhere he officiated the third-place match between Croatia and Morocco, as well as the group stage game between the United States and Wales. Before that, he had already participated in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but acting specifically as a video referee (VAR).
In addition to the World Cups, Al-Jassim is a constant figure in the main club and national team competitions in Asia, such as the AFC Champions League (where he officiated the 2020 final) and the Asian Cup. A curious fact about his career was his participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2019, the result of a referee exchange program, where he took charge of a semi-final between Mexico and Haiti.
Has Abdulrahman Al-Jassim ever refereed a Flamengo game?
For Flamengo fans, however, the strongest reference remains the 2019 Club World Cup. He was the one who led the final against Liverpool, a match that marked his consolidation as one of the main names in arbitration outside the Europe-South America axis.
Currently, he continues to whistle regularly Qatar Stars League (Qatar first division) and Asian continental competitions. He was also the referee of the friendly between South Korea and Brazil, which ended in a 5-0 victory for the Seleção, in October this year.
