Alckmin says that the Dosimetry PL gives the wrong idea – 12/12/2025 – Power

The vice-president () said on Friday night (12) that the approval of the Dosimetry PL is not a good example because it conveys the idea of mild punishments for white-collar crimes.

“I think we should never make legislative changes based on momentary issues. Legislation must have stability, it must be more structural, it must not be motivated by local issues. And on the other hand, it also reinforces a feeling in public opinion that when it is a simpler person, then it is tough. But for white-collar crime, for the most powerful, it is soft. It is not a good example”, said Alckmin.

The vice-president also celebrated the STF (Supreme Federal Court) announcement through the Magnitski Law and said that President Lula played an important role in the measure.

“It is a very important and fair decision, because no one can be punished for exercising their duty, which is the duty of the Supreme Court minister. So I think this measure by the American government was important, it is an act of justice, a recognition of the work of the Brazilian Supreme Court, so we are always happy to see justice prevail”, he said.

Alckmin made the statements during the end-of-year party of the Prerrogativas Group, of left-wing lawyers linked to the government (PT).

The deputy is one of those honored by the group this evening, as well as the Ministers of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), and Planning, Simone Tebet (MDB). The three are mentioned by PT members as possible candidates on the ticket in São Paulo next year.

Lawyers from Prerogativas have been working on Tebet’s behalf to the Senate and pleading for her move to the PSB.

Haddad is seen as the PT’s strong name to emerge as a candidate for the São Paulo government in 2026. He admitted, in an interview with the newspaper O Globo, that he may leave his position as minister by April next year, although he did not make it clear whether it would be for a possible candidacy.

President Lula also attended the event, held at Casa Natura, in Pinheiros, in the west of São Paulo.

Also present were the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, the Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira (PT), and former STF minister Luis Roberto Barroso.

He also commented that there is much to be defined about the electoral scenario for 2026, in particular the announced presidential candidacy of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), eldest son of the former president (PL).

“You will have several candidates, it is up to the parties to define who will be a candidate. The fact is that Bolsonaro, with the government, spending three times the GDP in the year of the election to be re-elected, lost. Now, outside the government, it is very different”, recalled Alckmin, who as Lula’s vice-president was on the ticket that defeated Bolsonaro in the 2022 elections.

Alckmin also avoided saying whether he will run for re-election as Lula’s vice-president, as requested by the PSB, or whether he intends to try to launch himself into the Senate or even the São Paulo government, as he has scored well in polls for the respective positions.

“Let’s wait,” he said.
