The vice-president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, commented this Friday, the 12th, on the blackout that hit São Paulo this week, after the historic windstorm on Wednesday, the 10th.
Asked about a possible intervention by the state government in Enel, Alckmin stated that he hopes that the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) strictly fulfills its regulatory and supervisory role.
Alckmin stated that the State “is no longer the executor of everything” and that, since Enel is not a state-owned company, Aneel has the role of regulating and supervising the company’s operations.

The statements were made to journalists shortly before leaving the 8th International Leaders Seminar event, in São Paulo.
The mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, spoke this week of intervention at Enel – in the early afternoon of this Friday, the 12th, the company had not yet announced a deadline for the normalization of the service, and the concessionaire’s balance sheet showed that 624.6 thousand customers remain without electricity in the region.
